Linzi Hanscomb and Nick Marcroft opened Snail’s Pace Cafe near Bodmin Moor in March 2014, creating a magical and inspiring ‘off grid’ space in a delightful valley at Wenfordbridge. Beginning with a love of ecology, permaculture, community development, and good food they have created a unique space within and about a recycled shipping container. With a lot of love and hard work they continue to try and offer more an experience than solely a cafe.
Using locally sourced timber the café’s conservatory extension is light and airy, full of green growth and is a wonderful space to relax after a ride along the camel trail. There is plenty of outdoor seating and parking in a quiet rural area. Bicycles available to hire from Snail’s Pace make this the ideal choice for breakfasting before attempting the full trail down to Padstow and back.
The menu changes regularly according to availability and season but there is always a healthy and hearty selection to choose from, including great breakfasts, delicious lunches and salads with vegetarian and vegan options and of course our popular cakes and cream teas. We are a family friendly café – we welcome breastfeeding mothers, offer baby change facilities and have a basket of toys, books and colouring for toddlers and young children.
Everyday there is a selection of freshly prepared specials for lunch at fair prices, that could include soups of the day, interesting salads, quiches, and homemade coleslaws. There are always delicious sandwiches and ploughman’s featuring local cheeses, homemade pickled onions, and chutneys. We also stock organic Whole Earth soft drinks, local Cornish apple juice, Green & Black’s hot chocolate, Fair Trade organic coffee and a good selection of teas.
We also welcome dogs!
